Citrogramma luteifrons (Meijere, 1908):304

Species with different pleural pattern in males and females. Males with yellow face, posterior anepisternum yellow, anepimeron black, and metafemur mainly black, yellow on basal 1/4-1/3. It differs from C. fumipenne in coloration of metafemur, abdominal pattern and by the brownish macula on scutellum (C. fumipenne has scutellum entirely yellow).

MALE.

Kopf ganz mattgelb, Stirndreieck ausser am gelben Seitenrande matt rotgelb, dunkel behaart, Untergesicht hell behaart. Fühler rotgelb, das 3te Hlied in der oberen Hälfte schwarzbraun. Augen nackt.
Thorax mattschwarz mit gelbem Seitenrande, schwarz behaart. Sehildchen am Rande breit gelb, im Übrigen ziemlich stark gebräunt, welche Farbe jedoch nicht scharf begrenzt ist, Brustseiten grösstenteils gelb, mit ein Paar dunkelbrauner Flecken, auch die Brust dunkelbraun.
Hinterleib breit, nach hinten verschmälert, schwarz, 1ter Ring mit 2 breiten halbmondförmigen gelben Flecken, welche in der Mitte fast zusammenstossen, an den Seiten mit der Vorderecke des Segments verbunden sind; die folgenden Ringe mit breiten gelben Querbinden, welche dem Vorderrande mehr genähert sind als dem Hinterrande, hinten in der Mitte etwas eingebuchtet sind und den Seitenrand erreichen. Hypopygial-segment rotgelb, Beine gelb, alle Tarsen und die Hinterbeine bis auf die Wurzelhälfte der Schenkel schwarz.
Flügel etwas bräunlich getrübt, Stigma schwarzbraun.

MALE.

Head: Face with facial tubercle, yellow, yellow pilose; gena yellow, black pilose; lunule and frontal triangle bright yellow, black pilose; vertical triangle black, black pilose; holoptic, eye bare; antenna orangish, basoflagellomere orange, darker dorsally; occiput black, silver pollinose, withe pilose ventrally, with some black pile dorsally.

Thorax: Scutum black with dorsomedial diffuse pollinose area, black sublaterally with lateral broad yellow vitta from postpronotum to scutellum, mainly yellow pilose with some black pile; postpronotum yellow, bare; notopleuron yellow, yellow and black pilose; supra-alar area black pilose; postalar callus yellow, black pilose; scutellum yellow, with medial diffuse brown macula, black pilose; subscutellar fringe complete with brown pile. Pleuron mostly yellow, except katepisternum ventrally black, meron black and anepimeron black; metasternum pilose; calypter yellow; plumula yellow; halter yellow; spiracular fringes yellow. Wing: Wing membrane slightly infuscate; entirely microtrichose. Alula broad, microtrichose. Legs: Entirely yellow except tarsi dark brown to black, metafemur black on apical 2/3 and metatibia black.

Abdomen: slightly oval, 3rd tergum vaguely margined. Dorsum mainly black or dark brown, black pilose dorsally and laterally except 1st tergum yellow pilose laterally and 2nd tergum yellow pilose laterally on anterobasal 1/3 and dorsally on yellow maculae; 1st tergum black, yellow laterally; 2nd tergum black with 2 mesolateral subtriangular yellow maculae, extended forward laterally to anterolateral tergum margin, yellow lateral margin on anterior 1/3; 3rd and 4th terga black with anterior broad yellow fascia, about 1/3–2/5 of tergum length; 5th tergum black with very sinuate yellow fascia; terga 2 to 5 with shiny blackish fascia on posterior margin; sterna mainly yellow, black pilose; male genitalia small.

Females of Citrogramma luteifrons have anepimeron yellow, slightly darker dorsally on posterior anepimeron, like females of C. luteopleurum. Females of both species are very similar, but they could be differentiated by the abdominal pattern.

Lenght: 10 mm (body); 9 mm (wings).

Speceis found in West Papua and Sulawesi (Indonesia).
